ADVANCE YOUR LEGACY

Attract Your Tribe, Wake Up Liberated and Build Something That Out Lives You

Amberly R. Carter, M.Ed is an author, speaker and entrepreneur.  She is the cousin of Emmett Till, 14 year old Chicago boy who was kidnapped and murdered in 1955 for allegedly whistling at a White woman in Money, MS. Till’s killers were acquitted by an all-White jury after 67 minutes of deliberation but later confessed to the crime for $4,000 to Look Magazine. Emmett Till’s murder and his mother, Mamie Till Mobley’s decision to hold an open casket funeral sparked the Civil Rights Movement. It was the sight of his brutalized body on the cover of Jet Magazine that pushed many who had been content to stay on the sidelines directly into the fight for justice.

Amberly is the CEO of Mamie Till Mobley Enterprise, Inc. a multi-brand company that works to carry out the legacy of advocacy work started by Mamie Till Mobley.  Follow her motivational messages through the hashtag #AdvanceYourLegacy #PowerMovesOnly.

Amberly has also written a coming-of-age memoir called Buried Alive: Remembering 7 Lessons Mamie Taught Me on Black Leadership which she will be releasing in Fall of 2016. Follow updates about this book through the hashtag #MamieTaughtMe. Amberly is the host of The Institute for Leadership & Change Podcast where she shares powerful stories about Black excellence and interviews brilliant Black college students, Higher Ed professionals and influential activists in the community. (available on iTunes and SoundCloud)

Amberly is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., earned her Bachelor of Arts in English: Writing from Millikin University and a Masters in Education from The University of South Florida.

From birth, her family’s ties to America’s greatest stain on justice placed her at the heart of a movement for Black lives.

In Advance Your Legacy, Amberly shares her personal journey through life, how she tapped into her power and started living everyday more generously and unapologetic. The power broker and cultural influencer has penned her girls’ guide on how to carry forth accomplishments, beliefs and values for generations to come. She demonstrates, through her stories of success and failure, how to leverage influence to change people’s thoughts and behavior with 5 strategic power moves.
